Creating a diagram on the computer is probably a new process for you. Here are step-by-step instructions to make it easier. Be patient and follow each direction carefully. Step 1: Google a picture of your animal. Step 2: Copy picture. Step 3. Open Microsoft Word Step 4: Write title and make sure it is centered (20-26 font) Step 5: Hit enter all the way down the page and add the source of the picture and the date. Step 6: Go back to the top and paste picture under the title. Step 7: Click on the picture and select the "Behind Text" option from the icon that appears. Step 8: Click picture tools and select Crop Picture or Remove Background- When it looks like you want it to, click "Keep Changes". Step 9: You may want to rotate/turn and resize your animal to make it easier to place it on the left with room for labels on the right. Step 10: Click Insert Shape (choose the line WITHOUT the arrow) Step 11: Hold the shift key to make the line straight. Step 12: Label the picture by adding a text box for each structure. Step 13: Remove the black box around the text box by clicking on the edge and clicking Format Shape. Then, click "No Line" (You will probably need to find a website that will help you to include detailed labels.) Important: Label from the top down; this will make formatting much simpler. Step 14: Add source and date (In this case, the source is not your last name, it is the website you got the picture from. Don't forget to credit your sources in your Page 13 Reference Page! This page will include a list of exciting facts about your animal. You can write this in paragraph form, or you can use bullet points. Most students, however, find that bullet points are a simple way to communicate their information quickly. All facts must be sited in APA Format. For example, citing on this page must include the author and year (Martinez, 2022). However, you must include these in your Bibliography/References Page 13.
Black bears are only found in North America. (TRUE, BUT NOT EXCITING). (This is a fact, but it's not especially exciting. If you're not sure whether your facts are exciting, you can share them with a friend or a family member to test them out. Also, if something genuinely sounds interesting to you, be sure to include it even if your friends disagree.)
